The Portfolio of Sam Purcell

Who am I?!

My name is Sam Purcell, and I am a 20 year old web designer and developer attending Tufts University in Medford, MA. I'm majoring in computer science, minoring in dance, and taking courses to fulfill medical school requirements. I have a passion for creation, especially in things relating to the web. The internet has a lot potential for applications that are not only highly functional, but also incredibly aesthetic. More and more, internet users are expecting flawless, professional interfaces on websites and mobile apps, which makes this a very exciting and challenging time for web designers everywhere.

I have worked part time as a lab assistant, researching the toxicity levels of certain cytotoxic drugs like cis-platin (go Lance Armstrong!) and I have worked as a lifeguard for a while. I will be a certified EMT as of May 2012, which is pretty cool. I paint miniatures on commission as well (email me for info about that), and have been for five years. All these things are fascinating to me, but none so much as the development of the web. It's what keeps me up until 5AM most nights, reading until my eyes close.

Anyway, that's a little bit about WHO I am and what makes me tick. Now, if you're a potential client or a jealous stalker, you're probably wondering WHAT I can do.

What can I do?!

The Business Side

If you've decided you'd like to hire me for a project, or just want to know more (either one makes me happy), please send me an email at Here's the way this works: you pitch me the scope of your project, what you need done, and when you need it done by, all in great detail. If these things are within my means, I will send you an invoice for the expected number of hours it will take times my rate per hour, which is $30. For a sense of scale, a project consisting of purely design and little to no development (programming) will take 15 to 20 hours.

Once you approve the invoice, I'll draft up a short contract, and we'll be in business. For payment details, please contact me directly. I sincerely hope to hear from you.
